What if, on a regular basis from this point on, we called Earth our Mother Earth? Or simply Mother? Many of us have a wonderful, loving feeling about mothers. If we simply called Mother Earth – Mother, it seems like we could increase our love for her even more. We could go beyond the sterility of the scientific name of planet. She loves us and shouldn’t a relationship like this be filled with tender love names?
What if, on a regular basis from this point on, we called all living beings The Children of Gaia? Gaia being the name of the Ancient Greek goddess of Earth (Mother Earth), who created and/or protected all living animals and plants (as well as crystals, mountains, lakes, oceans and so much more). We as humans are animals (well, I’ve yet to meet a human plant) so we are also the Children of Gaia.
What if, on a regular basis from this point on, we called upon ourselves to reclaim meanings for words that bring us closer to each other and to Love. What if we retired words that created wedges between us; that meant wanton destruction; that glorified war? Think about a time when looking in the dictionary you saw that the word “war” was listed as archaic? That peace had a thousand possible meanings?
